After unveiling a diffusion collection yesterday that erred on the boring side of our expectations, Roberto Cavalli’s new main line collection is at least fun to look at, if a little (a lot) gaudy.

Mixing bright prints with other bright prints, this collection achieves a Romantic feel on the duskier numbers, and an eye-catching effect on the brighter items, reminiscent of exotic feathers or foliage. We’re not crazy about the over-use of animal print, especially as the florals work well enough on their own, but Cavalli without animal print is like Karl Lagerfeld without his creepy black gloves.

We love the two gold sequinned numbers, with the t-shirt dress just edging the flapper dress out, on the strength of damn good styling. We can live without the overly brasyh pieces, but this is a solidly decent collection from Cavalli.
