Simple, clean-line driven and effortless, this new collection from Calvin Klein is a very quiet triumph of design over gimmick, style over fashion. It won’t make headlines, but it will make waves in the fashion world.

We know the little black dress has been done and done and done, but Klein has given us some new riffs on the LBD nonetheless. We love the truncated v-neck on two of the LBDs, and the leather-panelled bodice on another feels both modern and somehow historical. Like if Boudicca had to choose a classy frock for cocktails, you know? We also love the collarless red coat and the plain silver belts that seem more like bracelets, adorning looks with the lightest of touches.

This collection veers away from accoutrements and embellishments. With not a button, cuff or collar to be seen, Klein leaves himself nowhere to hide. Luckily for him, he doesn’t need to. This collection is fantastic and instantly classic.
