Entitled ‘WoMan’, Donna Karan’s latest collection is a celebration of masculine tailoring, nipped and tucked to fit a feminine silhouette. Riffing on menswear classics such as the trilby and the cummerbund, this collection is certainly eye-catching.

The stand-out pieces in most of Karan’s collections are the dresses: she understands what makes a good, classy dress, and she always delivers. So its no surprise that the evening wear in this collection is impeccable. From an ethereal beaded gown to a heavier, tailored silk number, these are great, grown up dresses. The white shirt and maxiskirt combination is a delight: refined and sexy. The other items in this collection, though, don’t grab us. The big plaid scarves and shawls are like toothless versions of Vivienne Westwood, and can anyone wear a big checked shawl in real life without looking like they’ve gotten cold during a picnic? 

We’re not crazy about the styling of this show either: the little hats are too too gangster fancy dress for us.
