Roooooney!

Remember when every actress in Hollywood was attached to the lead role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and then Rooney Mara scored it and we were all like 'EH?'. Well, now we're all like 'AH!' because she looks exactly like we'd imagine Lisbeth Salander to look. If we didn't already imagine her looking like Noomi Rapace, obv.

Roooooney, Rooooney, Roooooney! We weren't sure about her to start with, but now we like her. Imagine how rubbish Emma Watson would have been if she'd got the part?

Appearing in the November issue of Vogue (out next week), the actress talks about landing the coveted part in the slightly unnecessary but still exciting remake, explaining that David Fincher told her to “go out and get really, really drunk" so they could take pictures of her looking strung-out the next day. And on the fact that she has her nipple out in the promo material, she adds:

“There’s a certain way people are used to seeing nude women, and that’s in a submissive, coy pose, not looking at the camera. And in this poster, I’m looking dead into the camera with no expression on my face. I think it freaks a lot of people out.”

Meanwhile, Fincher himself revealed that he rejected Scarlett Johansson for the part, telling Vogue:

"Look, we saw some amazing people. Scarlett Johansson was great. It was a great audition, I'm telling you.

"But the thing with Scarlett is, you can't wait for her to take her clothes off."

Well, yes, when the whole entire world saw Johansson with her nipple out last month, it wasn't so much freaked out as glazed and in a trance staring at its monitor.

  • Even if she does look like Lizbeth Salander, one thing is for sure...she certainly does not look like a Pre-Raphaelite Ophelia...grrr
