We bunged a trailer for the new Aardman film up a while back, but it got taken down (as so often happens with these things). But here’s a new, extra long preview of Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists. It looks kind of brilliant (in a very silly way).

Co-directed by the legendary Peter Lord (Chicken Run, Morph, doesn’t need anything else on his CV to impress us) and with a screenplay by Gideon Defoe, based on his own books, Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists is voiced by a BAFTA of talented lovies, including: Hugh Grant, Imelda Staunton, David Tennant, Brendan Gleeson, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Piven, Martin Freeman, Ashley Jensen, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Russell Tovey.

It doesn’t come out until March 28, 2012, but if the only funny bits are those in this trailer it’s still looking like it'll be one of the better films of the year.

Update: In the US the film will be called The Pirates! Band of Misfits.
