Is Rentaghost still happening though?

A few weeks ago we reported on director David Yates’ announcement he was giving Doctor Who a “radical transformation” for a proposed Hollywood film version of the eccentric time traveller. But current show runner Steven Moffat has taken to Twitter to poo poo such speculation, and calm fans’ fears.

Never one to suffer journalists fools gladly, Steven fired off some hard tweets this morning to shut everyone’s flapping faces up:

“To clarify: any Doctor Who movie would be made by the BBC team, star the current TV Doctor and certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot.”

Of course, the quotes reported in Variety did come from Yates himself, but Moffat explains:

“David Yates, great director, was speaking off the cuff, on a red carpet. You've seen the rubbish I talk when I'm cornered.”

Which is a great relief. Though now it means we’ll never get to fume with geekrage about how the new CGI TARDIS looks like Michael Bay attacked it whilst drunk. It’s a shame, but in another way it really isn’t.

Rest easy Whovers.
