"plenty of moving and gasping"

Hands Solo is a male adult film star with two key attributes. The first is that he’s deaf, and uses sign language. The second is that - perhaps due to his fluent signing skills - he’s also very good at using his hands to take willing ladies to heaven, or thereabouts.

This 15 minute short (the first and last comedy porno to be funded by the UK Film Council – RIP UKFC) unfolds in the mockumentary tradition of films like Spinal Tap and – closer to home – Mike Bassett: England Manager. The makers use archive footage, photographs and a narrator to tell the story of a chap called Vernon who one day went to an audition for ‘actors – no vocal skills needed’, and ended up demonstrating digital dexterity so good that it put his female co-star into a coma.

The character of Bunny Comely, Hands’ on screen sex partner, is played by none other than Nicola Stapleton, aka Mandy from Eastenders. She’s returning to Albert Square soon, but sadly it probably won’t be as revealing a role as this one.

This film is jammed with jokes about porn, lipreading, deafness, sex and more.

The BBFC described Hands Solo as: "a comedy about a porn performer. It contains frequent sex references, both verbal and visual, including the sound and sight of a woman moaning in pleasure, briefly portrayed sex scenes where there is no genital detail but plenty of moving and gasping, and references to using a hand to stimulate your partner, orgasms and being expert in bed.”

Nice.
