Double whammy

Shazam! Kapow! What a double whammy of World Cup news this afternoon has brought. First came reports that Didier Drogba fractured his elbow in a friendly against Japan (a not-so-friendly tackle by Japan defender Marcus Tanaka), then came the even bigger news that Rio Ferdinand, England captain, will miss the tournament after injuring his knee in the Three Lion's first training session. Apparently he was turned by Emile Heskey, which says to us that it's probably for the best that Rio hasn't made it - you have to be pretty gash to be turned by a lump like Heskey.

As it stands, Kolo Toure has confirmed that compatriot Drogba is out, whilst all the major news organisations are saying that Rio will also fly home early.

Football, bloody hell.

Watch the nasty challenge on Drogba:

No need for that in a so-called friendly. Disgraceful challenge.
