Weekly round-app
Fri, 21/10/2011 - 13:53 by Peter Meehan

In this week's App round-up, we thought you'd want more than a bunch of games to play on the way to work, or in the toilets at work to waste time. So, as well as the many new games that have hit smartphones and tablets, we've also brought you Adobe Reader for iPhone and iPad, so you can do the work that you should have been doing while you were wasting time in the toilets. Also, Spotify has arrived for (selected models of) BlackBerry!

Adobe Reader - iPhone / iPad
Adobe wants everyone to replace Apple's native software for PDF document reading with their own because Adobe's is waaay better. It's got extra features and all sorts of things: the ability to open and view password-protected files, and searching through PDFs…see!

Just Dance 3 Autodance - iPhone/Android
From the successful Just Dance series, comes its first smartphone app. Record friends dancing or moving about or telling you to piss off, and the app syncs their movements to one of the stored dance tracks. Although instead of dancing, the videos are just a seizure-inducing nightmare. You can also upload these videos to Facebook or YouTube if you want people to hate you.

Spotify for BlackBerry - Blackberry
While iPhone users have being using Spotify for ages, BlackBerry have finally got into the game. The preview release, which only works on five handsets: the 9780 Bold, 9700 Bold, 9300 Curve, 9000 Bold and 8520 Curve, gives BlackBerry users that Spotify experience, with millions of songs, offline playlists and scrobbling tracks to Last.fm - there's nothing like a good scrobble.

Space Invaders Infinity Gene - iPhone/iPod Touch
You know what you're getting with Space Invaders and it's pretty hard to update it, without them Space Invaders purists getting the right hump. In an attempt to update Space Invaders, Infinity Gene starts off like normal Space Invaders, but the more you play, the more the game evolves (according to the synopsis).

Pirates of the Caribbean: Master of the Seas (iPhone, iPad)
Cashing in on the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Disney have released this ship-fighting game, where you sail around in your ship, and shoot and plunder other ships. Avast ye landlubber, and all of that nonsense

Worms Crazy Golf - iPhone/iPad
Who could forget Worms? Blowing up the other team with sheep or bananas, or any other of the bizarre arsenal. But where next once people have got bored of team warfare? Crazy golf of course!

Dungeon Defenders: FW Deluxe - Android
A cracking tower defence meets online co-operative action-RPG. Dungeon Defenders: FW Deluxe features a massive campaign to adventure through and the possibility to play with up to three friends - yes, up to three!.

Flight of the Fireflies For iPad - iPad
This strange, but beautiful game sees you control fireflies as they fly through the city looking for a new home. Each individual firefly is a different musical note, together they're a vast symphony. Looks a bit like a therapeutic game to relax you after a long day.
