A Zombie game? No, don't believe it

Since Skyrim came out we haven't really had a huge amount of time on our hands for things other than Skyrim. Those potions won't mix themselves, you know. Of course, that doesn't mean we've had no time for other games, just that the time we have is that much more valuable, so we've only got a few choices this week, but they're all good ones. After all, tThose potions won't mix themselves you…oh, we've already done that one. THANKS FOR MAKING ME STUPIDER, SKYRIM.

So anyway, in this weeks look at what's new and cool and fashionable and actually-quite-a-lot-of-fun-for-less-money-than-a-pint in the world of independent gaming we've got a brand new Humble Bundle, a sneeky peeky at SNES-like shooter, Zombie Grinder, a look at the hugely addictive (and also just huge) Treasure Adventure Game, and finally, the mega destruction alien holocaust smashfest that is Serious Sam 3 (which admittedly is full price, but still counts as indie for our purposes…).

As we mentioned a few weeks ago, the Humble Bundle is a fantastic way to dip your toe into the indie gaming market. Currently on offer are six games for around $4 currently, which is genuinely a fantastic price for what you'll get. The only problem is that the total price for the bundle also includes money for two charities, which as you know, we'd avoid if we could, but unfortunately we can't. Swings and roundabouts, eh? Still, absolutely worth it if you haven't already.

Next up is Zombie Grinder, a multiplayer top-down isometric shooter that has you and a bunch of pals killing as many zombies as you can with an array of weapons. Looks like a lot of fun, and the trailer below explains it a lot better than we could. Definitely one to watch.

Treasure Adventure Game has been described as a cross between Super Mario Bros 2 and Zelda, and is essentially a 2D platformer that has most indie fanboys beside themselves with excitement. If that's not a strong enough endorsement, then of course that's totally understandable, but seriously, have a look. It's released on Nov 26th and the trailer below should give you a much better idea of exactly what's involved…

Serious Sam 3, on the other hand, is 3D and looks great. SS3 is a Doom-esque first person shooter that's been in development for a while, and could be exactly what you need if you're getting a bit sick of the current realistic war-based FPS on offer. You don't have to carefully plan strategies or ration ammo here, nope, just keep firing until you're knee deep in alien guts. Nice.

Also, we received an email from our pals at UNIGINE (makers of upcoming naval battle game Oil Rush), who wanted us to mention that they've currently got a sale on for their game engine at the moment, so if you're interested just head over to unigine.com, offer ends next Wednesday.
