With 'Digital Video Recorders' (Sky+) and catch-up TV (BBC iPlayer), we are no longer shackled to TV schedules. There's no more having to hold off going to the toilet until the ad break or moaning about there being nothing on on a Sunday afternoon.

Soon you won't be shackled to the TV either, as broadcasters are finding increasing ways to bring TV shows to you.

Moving with the tide is Channel 4 and their on demand service 4oD which will be soon arriving as an app on iPhone and the iPod touch.

The app, which was released on the iPad in April, gives viewers a 30-day catch-up of Channel 4 shows, as well as archived shows such as Shameless and The Inbetweeners.

Channel 4 are set to relaunch 4oD next week with loads of new features and 'viewer-driven' recommendations, hopefully making it as good as BBC iPlayer.

Channel 4's director of audience, technologies and insight Gill Whitehead explained:

"As Channel 4 understands more of our audience and their behaviours and preferences, we will move to harness this insight to deliver superior innovation both to advertisers and to viewers."

So, you'll be able to watch such delightful programmes such as The Secret Life of Buildings and Natalie Cassidy: Becoming Mum on the go.
