If you don't have an Apple Store, well, you don't have an Apple Store

If your iPod breaks and you needed a new one quickly (God knows why), then chances are you can just pop online, head over to a certain well-beloved auction site and pick yourself up a cheap second-hand one in no time at all. When you do this however, you know there's a slight chance after you get it home and connect it up to your computer that its last owner may not have given it away 100 percent willingly. In fact he may not even know you have it at all. Or that the person who sold it to you had it. That's right, we're talking about handling stolen goods. The worst of all crimes. Except murder. In fact it's a little bit like what's going on in China, except that involves a lot less covert stealing and a lot more brazen fraud.

So, it would seem that the clamour for iPads, MacBooks and iPhones doesn't stop in the Western world, as China, one of the world's fastest growing economies, needs their fill of whatever Steve Jobs and Apple decides to spurt out.

Basically, it looks like those at Apple's China headquarters didn't get around to setting up a store in the Yunnan Province, so the locals did it themselves instead. Blogger BirdAbroad -  found an array of fake Apple shops in Kunming.

Displaying the Apple logo, the products are on tilted stands on wooden display tables, the employees are decked out in the familiar blue t-shirts with their name tags hanging from their necks, in fact the illusion is so convincing that even the staff are under the impression that they are working for Apple.

It's still yet unclear whether or not these stores are selling official Apple products, although the answer seems pretty obvious.

Of course there are one or two tell-tale signs that it's not an official Apple store, the shoddily made staircase and poorly painted walls, oh and the shop sign said 'Apple Stoer'.

So if you're looking to get the latest McaBook and iPhoen, perhaps a trip to China's on the cards. They even have a wide selection of apes to go with them.
