Skyward Sword, amazing
Mon, 14/11/2011 - 17:24 by Peter Meehan

If you've managed to save some cash from MW3, Battlefield 3 and Skyrim, then you'll be glad to know Skyward sword is out this week along with the new Assassin's Creed. Don't bother trying to save money for Christmas presents, just piss it all up the wall as quickly as possible. Here's some wonderful ideas...

Releases for 15th November

Assassin's Creed Revelations (360/PS3)
The fourth game from the Assassin's Creed series sees lead character Ezio Auditore head to Constantinople (which is now Istanbul) to find out the truth, the truth about a growing army of Templars threatening to destabilise the region. With a new arsenal of weapons, creating a new variety of bombs and a revamped multiplayer, this could be the best Assassin's Creed yet.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (360)
One of the most much loved game franchises, Halo burst onto our consoles ten years ago (we know, right?). To celebrate the anniversary, new developers 343 have remastered the original for Xbox 360, and not only that, Combate Evelved Anniversary features cooperative missions on Xbox LIVE and new challenges and a new story to uncover. Here's our take on it.

Releases for 18th November

The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
With Wii MotionPlus, players are able to control Link's actions using their own movements 'effectively putting Link's blade in the player's hand.' The storyline follows a loose prequel to Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword contains a multi-layered world, with puzzles that only Zelda games can deliver.

Saints Row: The Third (360/PS3/PC)
The Grand Theft Auto facsimile, but a lot more goofy, returns. The Third Street Saints gang, from the first two games, have now become a household brand and have attracted the attention of 'The Syndicate' which the Saints must take on in their home town Stilwater and a brand new city. Expect more of the off-the-wall content and great gameplay that Saints Row is famous for.

Super Mario 3D Land (3DS)
Mario has made the jump to 3D - that was a pun. Anyway, this is another Mario platformer, but this time, players can see Mario in 3D. Supposedly, it makes it easier to judge platforms and enemies. It sounds really exciting, it's just a shame that no-one owns a 3DS,

Need For Speed: The Run (Wii/360/PS3/PC/3DS)
The NFS series was out in the wilderness for a few years suffering from an identity crisis. Cue 2010's Hot Pursuit and it really rebooted the series and became a great driving game again. This years' Need For Speed: The Run, revolves around a high-stakes race across America, battling hundreds of other drivers in a range of different landscapes and terrains.

Mario & Sonic At The London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii)
The Olympics don't start until next summer, but Mario and Sonic have already broken into the Olympic Stadium to run and swim and row and stuff. They'd never allow blue hedgehogs at the Olympics, also fat Italian plumbers wouldn't even get a look in, especially if he tried to take part in every event.

Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 (Wii/360/PS3/PC/DS/PSP/3DS)
Turns out this isn't a game for a very specific age market, but actually based in the final four HP films. It's exactly what you'd expect from a Lego game, challenging yet fun.

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (360/PS3)
The beat 'em up sequel of the successful crossover series adds another 12 characters such as Ghost Rider, Iron Fist and Frank West, to the 36 playable characters from the previous incarnation, including M.Bison, Spider-Man, Hulk. Expect is more punchy-fun action.

DreamWorks Super Star Kartz (Wii/360/PS3/DS/3DS)
Imagine Mario Kart, but with characters from Dreamworks films such as Shrek, Madagascar and Monsters Vs Aliens, imagined it? Well it's already been made and is now coming out on your favourite console, whichever that may be, because it's coming out on all of them.

Dynasty Warriors 7: Xtreme Legends (360/PS3)
This strategy/rpg game puts you in Ancient China, where you must take down thousands of enemies to become the greatest hero in Chinese history. The expansion on Dynasty Warriors 7 features new characters, weapons, a new legend mode and a new challenge mode.

Medieval Moves (Move)
Using the PlayStation Move controller to pretend to use a sword, shoot fire arrows, hurl throwing stars, launch grappling hooks and defend with a shield as an evil sorcerer is trying to steal a mystical artefact that will allow him to raise an army of skeletons. Some good active medieval fun.
