Oh, Halo again!

Anyone who remembers playing the first Halo has some bad news coming. It's been ten years since you first picked up that chunky black Xbox controller. Ten long years. Have you achieved everything you wanted to achieve? Lived life to the fullest? Left no cliche unturned? No? Well, don't worry about it, because the game's coming out again, giving you a chance to right all that which went wrong, a bit like Quantum Leap but hopefully with a lot less crying and cross-dressing.

Of course, it's got a different name and seriously updated graphics, but luckily the developers who took the franchise over from Bungie (Microsoft's 343 Industries) decided to keep the gameplay as similar to the original as possible, thereby avoiding the classic pitfall of ruining the game completely.

Admittedly, we were skeptical when we heard there was a Halo game coming out that hadn't been done by Bungie, but since many of the team at 343 transferred over from the original Halo developer, it seems like those worries were misplaced.

We actually got a chance to have a play with the revamped game recently and can safely say that it seems like 343 have actually managed to improve on the original. The graphics are now HD to take full advantage of the Xbox 360's hardware, various achievements have been added for Xbox LIVE and the game also gives you the ability to swap between the original and updated versions during gameplay. Basically, it looks amazing.

Anyway, here's the trailer, have a look for yourself. If you're interested, unsurprisingly it's out on the 15th of this month, exactly 10 years after the original...
