What time does she call this? Sorry to anyone waiitng for Nicola's morning update. She has a good excuse though, and it involves a small boy in a costume. And possibly a puppy.

This blog’s a bit late because I didn’t get out of my brother’s play till late last night. I couldn’t believe how long it went on for! Not that it was an endurance but when it started at 7:30 and you don’t leave till gone 11…

It was Beauty & the Beast. It was good. My brother was a sugar cube in the dinner set. He was really good in his little sugar cube costume. The cast were really good. The main girl who played Belle was absolutely incredible vocally. I was absolutely blown away.

It’s incredible for such a little theatre group in this small town, to have this girl who’s so talented. It makes you realise how many amazing people there are, talent wise.

When we got to the interval, literally the whole theatre came over asking for autographs. So the interval lasted a lot longer than it was supposed to. So it’s my fault it ran so late. I did apologise! Afterwards we went backstage and had a photo with all the kids. It was nice.

When I was a kid I went to a little dance school and we used to put shows on. It was really reminiscent of that last night. We went backstage and the stage even smelt the same as it did when I was little. It took me back.

I haven’t been home for ages so I’m just enjoying seeing my family and catching up with everyone - doing normal stuff. Right now I’m sitting on my dad’s sofa in my pyjamas, eating muesli and watching Big Brother.

The reviews for the album have been coming in and they’re amazing. NME have given me seven out of ten! When you know the kind of bands and artists that they write about, and then for them to give me such a good review it’s just nice. And Glamour gave me five out of five, which is incredible.

This time it’s different reading an album review from when I’d read them about a Girls Aloud record. I imagine the way I feel now must be the way that Brian Higgins felt. When they’re talking about the synth line through Cinderella’s Eyes or the lyrics in one of the songs, because I’m so close to it, it all feels very personal.

Oh, my boyfriend Charlie was telling me that he’d bought us a new dog – we’ve already got two pugs! And he kept going on and on and on, and I was freaking out. I was like, ‘We do not have room for another dog! And as much as I love dogs, you’re gonna have to give it back’. And then a few hours later, once he’d sensed that I was genuinely not ready for another dog he was like, “I’m joking”.

But he had gone to see it. It was the same breeder that bred our two boys, Ronnie and Reggie. So I thought, ‘oh my god he’s actually gone and done it’. Maybe we should buy a house, rather than have three dogs in a flat!

  • @Ian Southall It's amazing, isn't it? Everyone else is writing about unlikely love/sex scenarios. Nicola writes about how it felt to be called ugly and how she got drunk underage to cope. Not sure I could love her more right now.

  • Just listened to I on youtube and the sticks & stones interview.
If only more people would be brave enough to be totally honest about their experiences in their music ... I'm more of a melody man so lyrics are'nt usually my bag (usually because they're bollucks!), but in your case you demand attention in such a way, its compelling!
Power to you Nicola...from Ian Southall xxx(@ISIS9)
