It must be February as the festival emails are flooding in. We won’t go to most of them, of course, because we hate people and the outdoors. But Honeyfest is looking rather attractive, over there in Rockley, Wiltshire, with Damon Albarn performing songs from Dr Dee. And it’s in April. On the 14th. That's a Saturday. This all seems incredibly civilized and agreeable.

Honeyfest

Those of you without proper jobs may have seen the birth of Honeyfest, when it was featured as part of Sarah Beeny’s Village SOS programme. It’s at this point that we’ll copy and paste a bit out of the press release because we’d not actually heard of it before and don’t want to get this wrong:

“Honeyfest 2011 was held in support of The Barge Inn Community Project - a group of villagers who came together to take over the running of their local pub and secure its future at the heart of their community. It saw performances from the likes of Laura Marling, Damian Rice and the Magic Numbers.

“For the second year running the BBC will continue to support the festival, the Tumuli Stage in association with BBC Introducing includes bands selected from all over the regions. More information on the line up for the BBC Introducing stage will be released in due course.

“The festival prides itself on its community roots and as such does everything it can to support the local area from using local suppliers and staff to breaking new musical talent in the Wiltshire area.”

As well as Mr Albarn, confirmations so far include Dry the River, Raghu Dixit (featuring members of Bellowhead), Rae Morris, Nick Harper and Kidnap Alice, with more to be announced.

Tickets will be available through the website http://honeyfestuk.com, Ticket Web and Sound Knowledge in Marlborough. Discounted tickets will be available for local residents at The Barge Inn, Honey Street, Wiltshire.

Here’s Damon doing his Dr Dee thing. It’s very lovely.
