It has been confirmed that French electro artist DJ Mehdi (Mehdi Favéris-Essadi) has died after the roof terrace of his Paris home collapsed.

Mehdi sustained fatal injuries when the roof terrace of his Paris home collapsed, and two other guests at the party were also seriously injured. Guest and fellow DJ, Riton (Henry Smithson) is understood to have been the only person on the roof who escaped injury.

A huge name on the electro-house scene, Mehdi was one of Ed Banger Records’ best-known and most-loved DJs, working with Chromeo and Busy P and remixing for New Young Pony Club and Miike Snow. His most recent partnership saw him team up with Riton to make Carte Blanche.

Chromeo, who worked with Mehdi on his 2007 single I Am Somebody commented: “We lost our brother. No words” 

Mehdi leaves behind a wife, prominent French graffiti artist Fafi, a six year old son and a back catalogue of amazing tracks.
