Alex James says Brit Awards could be the last of Blur
Mon, 20/02/2012 - 11:55 by Tim Chipping

As you may have heard, Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon (minus the sensible one and the stupid one) performed a brand new Blur song, Under The Westway, at the annual War Child pre-Brits show, at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire last night (Sunday, February 19). And as you can hear from this shaky phone footage, it’s quite nice.

The duo (presumably Dave was in bed and Alex was feeding brie to swans) also played the Great Escape album track He Thought Of Cars and Strange News From Another Star, from their 1997 self-titled album.

We bet Brits organisers are shitting it they’re going to do a medley of obscure stuff on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, udder-squeezing, Tory-friending, McDonald's promoting buffoon Alex James has told The Sun (obviously) that Blur’s appearance at the Brit Awards might be their last.

"There is always a feeling that this may be Blur's last bow, which I suppose makes it all the more exciting. We've been asked to perform five songs. I met up with the band last week and we discussed what we will play. I'm more excited about playing a few of the old hits again than winning. Winning prizes is nothing compared to the feeling of playing music.

''Pulling the band back together is like reassembling the A-Team for one last job. I'm a cheesemaker now. As much as we loved Blur, if you do anything day in, day out for 15 years, it becomes a job. We all needed to go our separate ways and do other things with our lives. Now when we play together, it's for the joy of it, like in our early days."

Yes, he really did just say “I’m a cheesemaker now”. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new synonym for “twat”.
