Today is clearly not the most depressing day of the year like they said on the radio. Because today is the day Kevin Rowland released the first photo of the 2012 lineup of Dexys. And he’s doing that because the brand new album by the 2012 lineup of Dexys is finally finished and coming out this year. Jimmy!

The new lineup features founding member Pete Williams and another early young soul rebel “Merton” Mick Talbot. Original trombonist Big Jim Paterson appears on one track on the record. The band’s long-time engineer Pete Schwier has been behind the desk.

Back in July, the opening minute of the new album’s first song Now was premiered on YouTube, giving little away, other than the fact the band’s name was now officially abbreviated to Dexys:

The only other song titled to have emerged is Nowhere Is Home. But Rowland also posted these lyrics to their Facebook page:

“Oh I know that I've been crazy, and that cannot be denied. But inside of me, there's always been a secret urge to fly. You see I dreamed about things, the brightest things, I know, you know what I mean. And in my youngest years, it seemed to me, that anything was possible.”
