Linda Perry, outspoken music producer and songwriter, has got some beef with Katy Perry and her shit music.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Linda asked the question on everybody’s lips: “who wants a fucking Katy Perry record?” before letting rip about just why Katy sucks so much:

“I'm sorry, but you're going to get the two songs that are probably the hits that are good, but the rest of the album is going to be crap. It's going to sound like shit.”

And, obviously, she’s right; we love Firework for reasons we don’t fully understand, but we’re not interested in the album because we know it’s going to suck. But that’s the par for the course with manufactured pop albums, right? Like, Britney’s first album had …Baby one More Time and Born to Make You Happy, but it also had Email My Heart, and Christina Aguilera’s Stripped had the Perry-penned Beautiful, but it also had, like, 19 other songs that mostly sucked. We’re not even going to discuss Pink (for whom Perry penned Get This Party Started) but you know what we’re saying.

Linda blames the quick-money attitude to music as “part of the reason the music business is in turmoil,” seemingly unaware that it is ‘hitmakers’ like herself, writing vapid songs for pretty faces, that make careers like Katy Perry’s possible in the first place.

So, yes, Linda, Katy Perry kind of sucks. She’s weirdly irritating and boring at the same time, and her music is, as you say, “like microwave popcorn”, but you wrote two songs for Kelly Osbourne. So who’s the real villain here, Linda? Eh?
