Once again proving democracy doesn’t work

So that’s the big story from the 2011 MOBO awards then: Jessie shitting J got four awards. Four awards that were voted for by YOU, the public. Did none of you get the email? We’re not doing the whole Jessie J thing now. Admittedly she seemed promising at the start, on those YouTube videos we all sent each other. But it’s quite apparent that the girl in those videos was a mere Mogwai to the squawking, bullshit-spouting Gremlin she became as soon as her ego was fed.

But no, despite the good people at MOBO offering you a choice that included many of today’s best exponents of cutting edge grime, dubstep and whatever it is Loick Essien does, you chose someone who does this…

If any of us made those kind of faces, gestures and horrific noises then laid on the ground, someone would call an ambulance.

Good to see Kairos 4TET finally getting the recognition they deserve, eh?

    But anyway, a headline isn't the story. A headline on a website is just a thing to make it show up in Google searches. So Jessie J was the only artist who won big, but Adele's name is more likely to be searched for. And any category win is big, really. But it doesn't actually matter and you possibly need to get dressed and leave the house today.
