Ditch The Faith
Tue, 04/11/2008 - 00:00 by chrisnsFollowing the announcement a few weeks back that a struggling singer-songwriter was going to sue the band for $400 billion, the New Jersey 'rockers' have found themselves facing the wrath of the courtroom once again. This time it's all to do with Sarah Allen, a security supervisor at a Bon Jovi concert in Buckinghamshire who is trying to claim £250,000 from the band.
The reason for her litigious fury? She was run over by a golf buggy. After a fire broke out backstage at the 2006 gig, Allen was trying to prevent access to the area when she was approached by Kevin McDonnell, one of Jovi's personal security team - who didn't take too kindly to being stopped in his tracks. He then sped over Allen's leg in his buggy, allegedly ranting:
"I don't care about your emergency situation. Get out of my way, you fucking whore."
Filing a case at Oxford county crown court, Allen has revealed that she considers the band members themselves personally accountable for McDonnell's actions. Not because they have a larger amount of money which to pay out - what are you, some sort of cynic? - but because they failed to 'train' McDonnell correctly. Fair point - unless any budding roadies have had the 'don't smash into people using automated transport' lecture, it's probably likely to be the first thing they'd do, isn't it?
The case has already been dismissed in America, but UK police have already issued a warning - if McDonnell returns to the area again, he's liable to be arrested.
A fugitive from the Buckinghamshire authorities? Something tells us Harrison Ford won't be planning a blockbuster about this.
