I'm a man without conviction - d'oh!

There'll be no cleaning the streets while being heckled by passers by for Boy George this time round, he's going straight to prison for 15 months after being convicted of falsely imprisoning a male escort in his flat.

The singer denied the charge and claimed that the victim, Audun Carlsen, had stolen photographs from his laptop and that he only handcuffed him to the wall in order to retrieve his stolen property. As you do.

But Judge David Radford said:

"Whilst I accept that Mr Carlsen's physical injuries were not serious or permanent, in my view there can be no doubt that your premeditated callous and humiliating handcuffing and detention of Mr Carlsen shocked, degraded and traumatised him."

The 47-year-old singer, real name George Alan O'Dowd, claimed that Audun stole photos from the pornographic photoshoot the pair had met up to film *shudders* so he invited the him back only to chain him to the bed and beat him to get them back. Surely he could have just asked...

The QC defending George said:

"The most upsetting thing ... is the descent into a lifestyle that was sordid and salacious ... but his real hope is that this is in the past."

Boy George apparently refused to give evidence so as not to embarrass his dying mother. He told reporters through his brother David:

"I couldn't do it for mum's sake. She's dying. The only reason I didn't give evidence was for her. She's been through too much already. I'll probably get sent down for this even though I'm innocent."
