Christmas bonus

Britney Spears' father Jamie has been given a lovely little Christmas bonus by the courts - even more of his daughter's money. Jamie is being paid to act as the singer's conservator, a role which means he must look after her, ensure she is healthy and safe and that the best decisions are made for her on her behalf. Though some might refer to this role as 'being a father', Jamie is being financially rewarded for work that he should perhaps have been doing in the first place.

Since February, Jamie (pictured above actually trying to gag his daugher at LAX) has been paid a lovely $10,000 a month for looking after his daughter (or 'Hollywood Child Benefit' as it might be called), though on Monday Court Commissioner Reva Goetz decided that this was a piddling sum and should be increased to $16,000 a month. Oh, and that the award should be backdated which means a lovely lump sum of around $60,000, all from the pocket of his daughter.

The Commissioner also ruled that Jamie should be allowed $1,200 per month for office supplies, presumably for the thousands of post-it notes that he pins to her belongings saying 'Don't wear this', 'Don't drive this' and 'Under no circumstances drink this'.

Not a bad little earner this parenthood lark. Jamie must be hoping and praying that younger daughter Jamie Lynn goes off the rails (a bit more) and he can retire early, like he did from fatherhood.
