Batman Begins (To Apologise)

Three noise-making DJ's on US radio stationK-ROQ were pontificating about the Christian Bale rant last week when they suddenly received a phone call from someone close to the events (Christian Bale himself) who took the opportunity to apologise fulsomely for his "incredibly embarrassing meltdown."

Bale claims that he was channelling the mental hospital scenes from'Terminator 2' at the time, and that the problem is that he tends to "care too much", though not about the feeling of others. To be fair to Bale this is a grovelling an apology as you're likely to hear this year.

"I know I have a potty-mouth, everybody knows that now. I understand this is live so don't worry, I will behave. The thing I really want to stress is that I have no confusion whatsoever. I was out of order beyond belief. I was way out of order. I acted like a punk. I regret that and there is nobody that has heard that tape that has hit harder by it than me. I make no excuses for it. It is inexcusable and I hope that is absolutely clear, you know?"

It's also reassuring to hear that he has largely lost that incredible accent that swerves between English and California, though for some reason Christian now appears to be totally Cockney, sounding as though he could break into 'Rowl Aht Ver Bat Barrel' at any moment.

Maybe we should all applaud as fantastic actor who made a mistake (lasting several, hectoring minutes) which has been broadcast since around the world. After all, as Christian modestly points out, he's a mere actor.

"One thing that has really disturbed me throughout this is because I'm not familiar or comfortable yet with this notion of being a movie star. I'm an actor and I'm don't quite know how to handle the movie star thing."

Seeing as he made his first movie at 12 years old and was working with Spielberg on 'Empire Of The Sun' when 13, you'd imagine he's had more chance that most to adapt to the role of 'movie star'. Anyway, you can hear the full clip here and make up your own minds.
