Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan has been forced to pull out of their homecoming O2 gig after doctor's discovered and removed a malignant tumour from his bladder during routine tests for gastroenteritis.

A statement from the band said:

"On May 12, lead singer Dave Gahan suffered a severe bout of gastroenteritis, leading to his hospitalisation and the cancellation of the Athens concert.

"While in hospital, further medical tests revealed a low grade malignant tumour in Dave's bladder, which has since been successfully removed.

"At doctors' orders, Dave Gahan must take a break until June 8, to ensure that he makes a full recovery. The Leipzig show on June 8 will be the first concert following Dave's recovery.

"Dave Gahan sincerely thanks his fans for their support, understanding and patience.

"Depeche Mode deeply regret any problems or inconveniences the cancellations and postponements may have caused."

Depeche Mode are one of the best bands in the world and we wish you well Dave - you're a proper legend.

  • Fuck me Kermits, how old are you then? I think this lot started in '79 or '80 and Dave Gahan, never wrote a song so I'm not sure how 'creative he was'.

Good to see that you are as on the ball as ever Kermits.

Hope Croydon is treating you well

  • Sale, you're a tad old to appreciate DM - stick to Dolly Parton. Although I agree with you, he's done well healthwise with the amount of kak he's been subjecting his body to for decades. Coincidentally though, the more heroin he was taking, the more creative he was- with a little help from Martin Gore of course. Top band.
