Looney Spoons

Oh no, pray this isn't the next Manuelgate!

National treasure (If treasure was buring car tyres and milk bottle tops ina carrier bag) DJ Spoony, the Radio 1 DJ with a face like a cartoon bloodhound and a head shaped like a rugby ball, has come under fire towards his comments about Lindsay Lohan. Whilst appearing on the TV show 'The Most Annoying People Of 2008' he voiced the view that attractive women should not be lesbians but should make themselves available for nice men. And apparently there's something wrong with thoughts like that in this day and age. What next? Men washing up? Sheesh.

Though he stopped short of saying that they would all look better in nice frocks and that he had a cure for lesbianism in his trousers, he still managed to upset gay rights group OutRage with the following comments.

"Let the munters and mingers get each other. That's cool. No one really wants them ones, but when they're hot and fit...do you know what I mean, and Hollywood superstars, they should be saved for guys like... not me ... for other guys."

Peter Tatchell from OutRage had this to say:

"The remarks by BBC Radio 5 presenter DJ Spoony…were gratuitously sexist and homophobic…DJ Spoony should be suspended by the BBC and be allowed to resume presenting his Radio 5 programme only after he has apologised on air and promised not to repeat his homophobic garbage."

We asked DJ Spoony for a comment* but he was too busy fingering KD Lang, or something.

*we didn't really
