The Shock Of The Fighting

With their comedy music and their comedy hard man act, the Gallagher brothers are nothing if not consistent. They spit in the face of progress, nick another chord progression from the 'Rubber Soul' album and splutter on about how they are still “mad” for “it”.

1994? 2009? They’re just years, man. It’s progress-denying business as usual with Noel and Liam. But the tabloid pantomime that is their ‘difficult’ relationship may have caused massive cracks in the band. And the best bit is that we ALL stand to benefit. After their world tour, Noel is threatening to push back the next album until 2014 as things are so bad between the two brothers.

Is there any way we can ensure that their internecine fighting actually increases? A nation’s ears are at stake here.

Although, having said all that, the one thing Noel excels at is the pithy quote. There is, as a result, a terrible balance here: Noel will only do interviews when he has something to promote, so we have to accept another terrible album as part of the Faustian pact of getting Noel to hold court on anything and everything.

Need evidence? Have a read of this quote about Liam.

“He’s rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy. He’s the angriest man you’ll ever meet. He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”

Brilliant. Just brilliant.
