All The President's Yes Men

Many Hollywood types have stepped forward to gush about what a great bloke Barack Obama is, but none more so than Jennifer Lopez and her ancient husband Marc Anthony. The pair met Obama at the Latina Inaugural Gala in Washington on Sunday and Jennifer could barely keep her emotions in check as she realised how much publicity she and her rattling-bag-of-calcium husband could gain from the meeting.

"He is the biggest star here, even though it's chock-full of celebrities. The night he won the election, you could feel it in the air. I was … watching him with tears in my eyes, thinking, 'Yes. Something is different. Something is happening.' We're very excited."

Marc agreed, dust spewing from his ancient mouth and scarab beetles running from his ribcage.

"Washington's never had a bigger rock star at the helm."

Having worked so hard to get Obama elected then Jennifer and Marc must be feeling particularly delighted at the moment, so they deserve their time in the spotlight, basking in the new President's reflected glory. This must be why they offered to play at the inauguration ball, an offer which was surprisingly rebuffed.

Perhaps because they did fuck all to get Obama elected, with both refusing to appear at fundraisers prior to the election according to Hispanicbusiness.com. Anthony refused to perform at a crucial fundraiser in Florida, while Lopez said that she might get involved if Obama himself rang her personally and begged her to show support. Surprisingly that call never came, so the pair dedicated no time whatsoever to the campaign, nor a single cent towards fundraising.

A bit like P Diddly, who also refused to contribute time and money to the Obama campaign unless he was given free tickets to the inauguration ceremony. A truly classy trio, I'm sure you'll agree. If McCain had won the election you can be sure that all three would be out waving flags in his support at the party, eyes seeking out the cameras and professing their love for the old Republican.

Best hypocrisy of the year so far, by my reckoning.
