Jolly Roger

Johnny Depp has turned his hand to all sorts of unusual film roles, bringing an other-worldly brilliance to his performances. Who else could play a boy with scissors for hands, a cockney pirate and a transvestite movie director and make the roles his own? But now Johnny may be about to sign up for a challenge that even his legendary acting skills might struggle to portray, by playing Roger Moore in a bio-pic of the actor's life.

The interest comes about after the publication of Moore's autobiography 'My Word Is My Bond' (see what he did there?) which has been well-received for its depiction of the actor's life as a young actor in Hollywood in the fifties and sixties and it is this era that film-makers are keen to concentrate on rather than the cheesy, wooden Bond years. WENN report that Moore has already hinted who he would like to take the role of the young Roger.

"The whole project is shrouded in secrecy but Roger has been telling friends, with a knowingly raised eyebrow, that he's a great admirer of Johnny Depp."

Lovely man that Roger may be, it cannot be denied that he was creakingly wooden and glib (honestly, he nearly ruined 'The Wild Geese' for me) in his style of acting. Might I suggest the movie makers give Hugh Grant's agent a ring and see if he's busy next year. He won't be, you know.
