Madonna's adoption of 3 year old Chifundo "Mercy" James has been approved by Malawian officials who stated that the original court decision which denied the application was "out of touch with the times". A bit like Madge's last album.
Somewhat co-incidentally, Madonna has founded a charity, Raising Malawi, which which will feed, educate and provide medical care for 1 million Malawian orphans.
Madonna's lawyer Alan Chinula said:
"It's the wee hours of morning in New York but she is excited at the news. As her lawyer I am happy that this has settled this contentious issue."
