American Idol judge Paula Abdul has revealed she was addicted to prescription drugs for years before kicking the habit last November. She suggests it was a deep and dark secret. Erm, pretty badly kept if you ask me...

Paula said the addiction began after taking a combination of painkillers and Chinese medicine(?) to make it through her "grueling" dance routines.

She took regular doses of lidocaine, and by 2005 was diagnosed with reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome (TRIPLE WORD SCORE TASTIC), which caused her teeth to chatter. Yup.

After wearing a patch that delivered drugs 80 times stronger than morphine and having muscle relaxants (poppers - must be poppers) she said she would sometimes "get weird". Really, how odd - I'd have never expected a quantity of drugs strong enough to fell a stable of shire horses to affect a 3ft woman.

Addiction is a serious illness though, moles, and not one we should make light of or laugh at.
