Pete Doherty was ordered by police to pull over after he was caught driving erractically following a performance in Gloucester. But he refused to top and reportedly drove through a red light before mounting a kerb.

When he finally pulled over, he tried unsuccessfully to swap seats with a female passenger. A breath test showed that he had 50mgs of alcohol per 100mls of breath when the legal limit is 35. Heroin (n amount of 0.6g) and a home-made crack pipe were found in his car.

Just another quiet night for Pete then...

Police then raided his home in Malborough to discover three grams of heroin.

Pete appeared in court yesterday and pleaded innocent to counts of driving recklessly but guilty to possession of Class A drugs, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. His lawyer said:

My client would firstly like to express his disappointment in himself and disappointed that he has let his fans down.

He has been out of trouble for over a year and a break of 14 months represents a real achievement for someone with a drug dependency.

This offence represents an aberration. There a been a very real and very significant change in his behaviour.
