Rock & Roll history is littered with angry musicians who refused to play by the rules and stuck their middle finger up to 'The Man'. Hendrix sinking more drugs than a medium-sized council estate. Jim Morrison arrested for flinging his cock out on stage. Boy George currently imprisoned for kidnapping a male model…actually that last one doesn't work. Anyway, music = angry young men, and if there's anyone on the scene at the moment more terrifying than Pete Wentz, the bassist for cartoon punks Fall Out Boy, then I certainly don't want to meet them.

Because on Monday, Pete (and I tremble as I type) went head to head with the officers of the LA Police Department and after several seconds of being admonished he accepted a fine for having illegal car modifications. Not something as mundane as 'Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die' written on his motor. No, this was something far more terrifying and sinister.

 

Tinted windows.

 

Brrr. Cold in here, isn't it? That's the shiver you get when in the presence of someone who truly doesn't care if they live or cravenly apologise for having tinted windows and promises to have the offending film peeled off at the nearest dealer.

 

That's the shiver that real Rock delivers to the soul. Crazy man-mental Pete even managed to record the details of what was happening, even as the police surrounded his car and tapped politely on the window. He probably put it in an angry protest song about police brutality. Or he might just have tweeted to Twitter. Guess which.

 

"Currently being pulled over for window tints. I guess that's what happens when you drive The Deathstar. Just got let off. I heart LAPD today."

 

Yeah, Take That, coppers! He even calls his SUV 'The Deathstar'. How Keith Moon must be kicking himself in the afterlife for forgetting to call his Rolls Royce 'The Deathstar' before filling himself with drugs and booze and driving it in to his own swimming pool.
