Just a few weeks after being beaten and hospitalised at the fighty hands of Chris Brown, Rihanna has gone on vacation to Miami. With Chris Brown. The pair are enjoying a sun-soaked beach holiday together and catching up on all the lovely publicity they've generated recently.

Rihanna, who might have used the situation to be an inspiration to abused women the world over has instead decided to let everyone down and once again romance the charming Brown. Let's hope he has the decency to pay for her medical bills.

 

But what of the outrage expressed by Rihanna's friends at the time of the attack? Their terrible anger seems to have evaporated pretty quickly as the pair are staying at one of P Diddy's houses on Miami Beach's Star Island and Rihanna's new personal bodyguard is one of Jay-Z's entourage. So much for the musical community uniting in horror against Brown's actions.

 

Rihanna's homeless father Ronald Fenty originally expressed the wish that she use the experience to provide some inspiration for other battered women around the world, just before he asked if anyone had a spare cigarette and 39p towards his bus fare home. Sadly he now says,

 

"I love my daughter with whatever road she takes. I'm behind her win or lose. I will be supportive. If that's the road she wants to choose, I'm behind her."

 

Behind her and hovering up the publicity and financial crumbs, no doubt. The reunion story was broken by People magazine who revealed that Brown called Rihanna last week on her 21st birthday, perhaps offering to give her the bumps (another 19 to add to the two massive contusions on her head). An unnamed source said,

 

"He called to wish her happy birthday. They've reached out to each other. It's been mutual."

 

Well it's been sickening. Though Brown was arrested, charges have not yet been filed by the District Attorney, so it's very possible that one of the most public beatings of a woman in history will mean no punishment for Brown, as he can now point to the resumption of his relationship with Rihanna as proof of what a great guy he is.

 

This is one of those few stories where none of the participants comes out with any credit whatsoever. Frankly they all deserve each other and should be roundly ignored from now on, though there's bound to be some juicy deals with glossy magazines along the lines of 'Reunited And It Feels So Good' and 'Rihanna's Forehead Grazed My Lovely Little Knuckles says brave Chris.' Fuck the pair of them.
