Falling Star

No wonder Paris Hilton has resorted to pleading on TV for new best friends. It appeared to be just another chance to raise her miserable profile, but in reality it seems that Paris isn't overly-endowed with mates. She celebrated her 28th birthday on Tuesday and was joined by her closest and most powerful friends. Both of them.

In the past she might have flown a plane crammed with A-listers to an island she had hired, or had the Empire State Building annexed for the masses of adoring pals. This year's birthday was a much more quiet affair, according to JustJared.com, being held in the swanky Butter Restaurant in New York. Well, Paris only actually had to hire the lounge rather than the whole place, but it still proved big enough for a few 'friends' and her own rapidly-shrinking ego.

Mickey Rourke went along, then immediately wished he hadn't as his beloved dog Loki died a few hours later, perhaps of shame. Also present was Nicky Hilton (who felt she had to attend), Aubrey O'Day, Brandon Davis, JC Chasez, Tyrese, Chris Ivery, Stavros Niarchos and Erin Lucas. Wow, it makes you giddy doesn't it, all that talent in one room?

Let's just be grateful that a bomb didn't go off, killing everyone there. The 'made for TV' movie market would have taken weeks to recover. Paris can take comfort from the fact she'll always be surrounded by loved ones whispering their love for her. All it takes is a quiet room and a few mirrors.
