The 'A-list' friends who were compelled to attend included Courtney Cox, Tobey Maguire, Tom Hanks, Sheryl Crowe, Oprah Winfrey and Barry Scott from the 'Cillit Bang' commercials (though he left after an hour as he found the whole thing a bit downmarket).
Incredibly also present was John Mayer, the man with whom she shares a relationship with more on-offs than a car indicator. The pair were described as looking happy together, perhaps something to do with the fact that several cohorts of LA police were in attendance to keep any paparazzi away from the bash, so it's nice to see public money spent on overtime for policemen to keep a sitcom star 'happy'.
And what a crazy night! Just because Jennifer is hitting forty it doesn't mean she's forgotten how to party, and party hard at that. Even though the party started at 7pm, the bacchanalian pleasure-fest went on and on and on, with the final guests leaving at a frankly disgraceful 2am.
Rumours are that Mayer will finally propose to Aniston tomorrow on her birthday. If they're still together, that is.
