Actress Natasha Richardson tragically died on Wednesday after sustaining head injuries from a fall whilst skiing in Canada.

It had been reported that the 45-year-old actress, who was taking a skiing lesson when the accident happend, initially showed no signs of injury and laughed off the incident, even signing a form in which she declined medical attention. It was only several hours later that she began to experience severe headaches before being rushed to a local hospital in Ste. Agathe, Quebec, and then was transferred to the Hopital du Sacre-Coeur de Montreal. She was transferred to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, where her family, including Neeson and her mother, Vanessa Redgrave, gathered to keep vigil.

 

This brief statement was read out a short while ago: 

 

"Liam Neeson, his sons and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha," the statement said. "They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone and ask for privacy during this very difficult time."
