Yes, the BBC, desperate to regain some credibility after the debacle of Jonathan Ross/Russell Brand have decided to go back to basics and invest in some heavyweight talent to restore public confidence.
Oh no, they've commissioned that well known TV writer Peter Doherty to come up with a series for them.
The Babyshambles singer apparently met with creative bosses at Television Centre this week.
A source told The Sun: "Pete was meeting creative chiefs. They've commissioned him to write a Skins-style show on the dark side of the music industry.
"They want a pilot episode written in the next six weeks which will become a series, if he can come up with the goods.
"Beeb bosses think Pete has a creative streak that will produce some gritty TV.
"He's seen it all as a hellraising rock star, so they want his experiences written in."
In related news, a mole spotted in TVC on Wednesday and sent us this…
"I saw Pete Doherty in the lift of Television Centre this week holding a glass of some sort of spirit looking like the preacher from Poltergeist. When I asked him what floor he wanted, he asked where the bar was, wanted to know if it had a roof terrace, asked if he could smoke there and wanted to know if it had a nice view."
Next stop The Baftas…
