Monsters vs. Aliens - Out April 3

The perpetual downward trajectory of Dreamworks Animation shows no signs of slowing down. After the unexpected critical success of 'Kung Fu Panda', you'd think they might have taken a break, assessed what went right and then attempted to put the same inventive visuals and universal humour into their next project. Or, you know, get a couple of celebrities on board and then jam out any old shit.

'Monsters vs. Aliens' is by no means the worst Dreamworks Animation film ('Shrek the Third' would be almost impossible to beat) and the fact that it's in 3D does earn it a few bonus points, but essentially it's just looking at what worked for Pixar a few years back and then tweaking all the joy and wit out of it. As ever, most of the money seems to have been spent on getting famous voices involved to keep the parents entertained. That is, if you're entertained by the voice of Reese Witherspoon.

In short, don't bother.
