Watchmen - Out March 6
Mon, 02/03/2009 - 01:00 by chrisns
The time is almost upon us. The stars are about to align. For the millions of readers of Aint It Cool News, the ascent to the Promised Land is about to commence. Because on Friday the 6th of March, EVERYBODY will be watching the Watchmen.

Based on 'the most celebrated graphic novel of all time' (an honour that still means pretty much nothing outside of Forbidden Planet) and directed by 'visionary director Zack Snyder' (visionary = he made '300'), Watchmen is a full-on, 18-rated, noisy superhero romp with more amazing moments and phenomenal violence than even the darkest corners of YouTube have to offer. You will see arms sawn off, you will see skin and muscle pulled from bone, you will see a man pretending to be Richard Nixon and you will see the big blue guy's penis in nearly every scene.

Starring a cast of semi-obscure Hollywood B-listers (him from 'The Accidental Husband', her from 'The Heartbreak Kid') and packed with CGI that makes the big sandy man in 'Spiderman 3' look like the big scaly man in 'Spiderman 1', 'Watchmen' is solidly amazing in the first 90 minutes and not even a total failure in the remaining 72 (!!!). Be warned though, if you haven't read the 'novel' you will be horribly lost by the end.

Still, if you don't see it, people might look at you funny. And you wouldn't want that.

4 simultaneous UK-US releases out of 5.

'INTERESTING FACT': There's a reference to '300' about 4 minutes in. No joke.
