Will Mellor in BBC3's White Van ManWill Mellor in BBC3's White Van Man

Two Pints of Tea and a Packet of Grout, more like

Is BBC3 trying to win a bet or something? Because we can’t think of another reason why Will Mellor still gets work, honestly we can’t. Basically, this is much of the same from the makers of internationally acclaimed drama series Two Pints of Lager and a Lobotomised Cast, following ‘the fit one’ (Will Mellor) cast as an aspiring chef who has failed catering college because he put a bit of sweet mary-jane in a pie, so now he’s a handyman. His first day on the job does not go well; his assistant poos on a customer’s towels; he has to buy another customer’s DVDs back off a burglar (Neil from The Inbetweeners) and then he bumps into a bird he used to fancy, who has nicked his idea for a restaurant. Worra bitch, eh?

The comedy trundles along at an alright pace, with jokes about masturbation, defecation and impregnation, until a scene culminating in taking the piss out of people with Down’s syndrome, by not taking the piss out of them. It’s uncomfortable, and would probably be funnier if...nope...it’s never going to be funny. Then there’s a HILARIOUS scene with a pregnant chav and her vest-wearing dad, who tries to kill poor lovely potato headed Will Mellor with a plank.

Despite some OK jokes, White Van Man just doesn’t take off. The acting isn’t great, and the gags have all been done before. Still, it’s nice to see Will Mellor in work, lest he return to the world of pop...

White Van Man is on Tuesdays, BBC3 at 10:30pm and you can probably watch a whole episode, as we did, without so much as a giggle.

  • Not sure what retard wrote this review but you're better off listening to Chris Moyles - probably more your type of humour. I'm no fan of Will Mellor previously but WMV is cracking TV. The character mix is excellent and the bird who works in the DIY shop is fit as fook. And from what I hear, with around 1 million viewers tuning in to a show that's buried on BBC3, that ain't bad.

  • I saw a clip of this and shame to say it looked quite good. I know. I'm obviously losing it but it could be the Brush Strokes for our generation.

    I'll get my coat.
