TRUE BLOOD - TRULY GOOD

If you've been in mourning since Six Feet Under finished, or indeed if you've been looking for something to nourish your soul while Lost works out how to end, well rest no more. HBO have done it again. True Blood, on FX Channel, is fucking brilliant.

Set in the imaginary redneck town of Bon Temps, True Blood is part Black comedy, part horror, part whodunnit and part porno. i.e. Everything you need from a television programme.

Vampires are real and have become part of society since the discovery of synthetic blood. This doesn't mean they are accepted. They don't exactly help themselves by looking creepy as fuck, and when murders start occurring, it isn't long before the fingers start pointing.

Starring Brit Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin (Rogue from X Men) it really is bloody great. Well written, sexy, funny and actually quite bloody scary.

It is HBO's third most successful programme EVER - and they did The Sopranos, Deadwood, The Wire, Sex and the City etc etc so they quite literally know what they're talking about.

An open letter to BBC, ITV and Channel 4:

US drama commissioners have yet again shown you up for the cowardly, play-it-safe-twats you are (with the exception of whoever commissioned Sky one's The Take).

GYAC - it takes cash and a pair of balls bigger than 4 day old garden peas to create something worth watching. It's OK to upset people with some of your programmes. It doesn't all have to be accepted by everyone.

INVEST IN BETTER WRITTEN PROGRAMMES.

True Blood is on FX every Friday at 10pm. Watch it now, or you'll be shelling out for the box set in a couple of months. Trust Me.

  • Yup, agreed! It's ace - even though that bloke who used to be on Home & Away is in it!
