Now, not everyone gets to stay in the Big Brother house (we did. Did we tell you?) but you can, possibly, stay in an authentic replica of Del and Rodney Trotter’s Nelson Mandela House residence, in promotional celebration of the 30th anniversary of Only Fools & Horses. And here’s how...

“To celebrate the 30th anniversary of classic British sitcom Only Fools & Horses on Gold, Peckham’s most famous pied-à-terre ‘Nelson Mandela House’ will be opening its doors to the public from 24th August 2011.
The memorable backdrop to many of Del Boy, Rodney, Grandad and Uncle Albert’s wheeler dealer schemes will be recreated in a secret tower block location in Peckham and available for fans to rent overnight at 1981 prices… amounting to a bargain rate of £18 per night!
Despite bursting onto our TV screens 30 years ago, Only Fools and Horses remains one of the most popular shows on Gold and now fans can relive the glory days of Nelson Mandela House for real; complete with Del’s headache-inducing brown and yellow lounge curtains, 1980s living room bar, Uncle Albert’s arm chair and lashings of tiger print!
Many original props and costumes from the series will be on display at the Gold Nelson Mandela House including Del Boy’s sheepskin coat and flat cap, his silk dressing gown and Trigger’s Blue suit from Del Boy’s iconic ‘falling through the bar scene’ whilst trying to impress the ladies!
From 23rd August members of the Gold Facebook group www.facebook.com/goldtvchannel will be able to compete for the chance of renting a night at Nelson Mandela between 24th August – 4th September. They will be able to take the flat for the night at the 1981 price of £18; when a pint of lager at the Nag’s Head cost a mere 62p and Hooky Street was awash with back-of-a-lorry bargains.
Lucky overnight guests at Del Boy’s place will be able to get the party started with a Pina Colada from the lounge cocktail bar, browse the bargains that Trotters Independent Traders have on offer before catching some shut eye on Del Boy’s prized satin sheets.”
