So Bleak(ley)

As if ITV didn't dampen Saturday night entertainment enough by airing Sing If You Can every week for two months, they've announced a celebrity-based reworking of Stars In Their Eyes called 'Guess The Star'. And to finally find some way of justifying paying her £1.3M per year, they've handed Christine Bleakly the job of hosting it. Very Bleak indeed...

The show's just in the planning stage at the moment, and a pilot hasn't even been filmed yet, but the premise is basically this:

Anonymous celebrities (think your Lizzie Cundys, your Lucien Laviscounts and your Lee Ryans) perform dressed as their favourite artists while the audience try to guess who they are.

Along with Bleakley as the personality-less host, rumour has it she'll be joined by Louie Spence and, err, Pauline Quirke as the judges. Louie Spence we can accept, everyone likes Louie Spence, but Pauline Quirke? Well, Birds of a Feather is being revisted - except only on stage in Southend :(

Here's what the Sunday Mirror's source had to say about it all:

"When ITV signed Christine from the BBC they made it very clear she would be working on other projects. You don't pay someone £4m just to present a breakfast programme, especially one that is underperforming.

The show is only in the development stage but ITV are hoping it will be the perfect platform for Christine to launch herself as a primetime entertainment presenter.

The prosthetics people are absolutely brilliant and from what we've been told they make the celebs absolutely unrecognisable."

Sounds like it's going to be like Soapstar Superstar crossed with Bo Selecta crossed with a heap of dog poo.
