In the strangest news we've heard since we found out that Rihanna and Chris Brown are now best pals again, it seems that John Leguizamo has been cast as Del Boy in the pilot of the US version of Only Fools and Horses.

It's being written by Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley who, while they've written a few episodes of Scrubs and sketches for SNL, aren't exactly the pros you'd want rewriting the classic series for a US audience. Seriously though, John Leguizamo?

Deadline Hollywood, who broke the news, described the show thus:

"The multicamera comedy chronicles the misadventures of two streetwise brothers, Del (Leguizamo) and Rodney, and their aging grandfather as they concoct outrageous, morally questionable get-rich-quick schemes in their quest to become millionaires. Del, the older brother, is the leader of the team. He is an overly confident bon vivant and con artist who trades crap out of the back of his car, cheerful and oblivious to the fact that he is a lowlife scamster."

Cragg and Bradley also worked as producers on the show Happy Endings, which we have yet to form an opinion on. Having said that, it's hard not to like Deadline's description of Del, and it reminded us of an old Lucas and Walliams' sketch:
