Olly to Caroline: 'Am I doing it right?'
We'll be Thinking of Him
Tue, 26/07/2011 - 16:12 byWe think everyone will agree when we say that the telly has been fairly underwhelming this summer. The only shining light in our weekly viewing was The Apprentice, and now that's over all we're left with is Hollyoaks and Richard Hammond's Journey To The Bottom Of The Ocean (BBC1 tonight, btw, you'd be a fool to miss it). Thankfully, two of our favourite TV shows are about to return to save the summer, with Celebrity Big Brother starting next month, shortly followed by the X Factor. Our trusty and experienced television presenter Dermot O'Leary will still be at the helm, while the equally trusty and experienced television presenter Caroline Flack and err, talent show runner-up, Olly Murs, have been put in charge of the Xtra Factor. So, what are we to expect?
Well there's no point in speculating, is there? Let's leave it to pop star and first-time TV host Olly Murs to tell us what we're in for...
"Caroline and I can bring a more personal touch and get to know the contestants really well like Dermot does.
What makes Dermot so good on the main show is that he is so down to earth. Within a second you almost feel Dermot is one of your best mates. Hopefully that's what Caroline and I can bring to it. We are also going to be like their mates. I hope my experience of the show will rub off on the contestants and we'll get the best out of them."
Dermot this, Dermot that... But what do you think of the changes to the judging panel, Olly, have you got any sporting references you could use to compare it to?
"I always look at things like football teams. In any business you have to refresh. No-one is bigger than the club."
See also: 'a game of two halves' and 'this game needs a goal'.
Anyway, Olly is yet to discuss the small matter of hosting LIVE prime-time television in front of millions every Saturday and Sunday night. But we're sure he'll do absolutely fine. *giggles* No, seriously, he'll pull it of flawlessly and prove us all wrong. *cackles uncontrollably*
Good luck, Olly!

An 'eX Factor' lyooser hosting 'X Factor Dregs - Live'?
Could be worse. Could be on Celeb BB.
No. Wait.
@topguntop I work for NOBODY! Like the Men from UNCLE or something. Whoosh! (that's me deploying my spy cape)
I didn't realise you worked for HM Becca.
Congrats...(ish)
If I saw him walking down the street, I would 100% trip him up.
ugh...He is such a paint by numbers "cheeky chappy" isn't he?
I can guarantee he wears football shirts in public.
